🍺 Handpicked Pubs, Full of Character

Each pub on this tour is carefully selected for its charm, atmosphere, and top-notch reviews – a mix of traditional country inns, cosy nooks, and vibrant local favourites. Depending on where you’re starting from, we’ll build the perfect route to make the most of your time with us.

Southern Peak District

You won’t visit every pub listed below – but here’s a taste of what you might expect:

  • The Old Dog, Thorpe – A beautifully restored coaching inn near Dovedale, known for its warm welcome, real ales, and dog-friendly vibe.
  • The Jug & Glass, Hartington – A classic country pub nestled in the White Peak, with roaring fires and hearty pub grub.
  • The Royal Oak, Hurdlow – A firm favourite for walkers and cyclists, offering a great range of local beers and big Derbyshire flavours.

Eastern Peak District

  • The Hurt Arms, Ambergate – Stylish yet traditional, this riverside gem serves up great food, local ales, and a relaxed atmosphere.
  • The Remarkable Hare, Matlock – A quirky, independently run pub with a big personality and a cracking menu.
  • The Fishpond, Matlock Bath – A mighty stop-off with a cult following, regularly hosting live bands. Perfect for a drink with character.

From here, we often make our way through:

  • Ashford-in-the-Water to visit The Ashford Arms – a riverside beauty soon to reopen with new life and heritage charm.
  • Baslow, where The Prince of Wales offers a stylish modern twist on the traditional inn.
  • Grindleford and Hathersage, stopping at The Maynard (upmarket pub classics with panoramic views) before finishing at The George in Hathersage – a welcoming end-of-tour pint in one of the Peak’s most charming villages.

⏳ Flexible Tour Duration

Our standard Classic Tour runs for around 6 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy three or four pub stops without rushing. Want to make a day of it? We offer extended tours, later finish times, or optional meal add-ons. Pick-up and drop-off locations can also be adjusted to suit your group.

FAQ

Can I book on to a Classic Pub tour as an individual or smaller group? Currently our tours are only for group bookings, however we do plan to run some tours that are open to smaller groups or individuals. If you are interested in these tours, please let us know and we will keep you informed of when they are happening.

Are drinks included in my tour?  No – and that’s entirely by design. We didn’t want to assume what you or your group would like to drink (or how much), so we’ve left it up to you. Whether it’s a local ale, a crisp lager, or a classic G&T, you’re free to choose your own tipple at each stop. That way, everyone gets exactly what they fancy!

Do I have to pre-order drinks? Nope – there’s no need to pre-order drinks. We like to keep things relaxed and flexible, so you can decide what you fancy on the day. That also means if your group wants to spend more time at one pub or skip another, the tour can flow at your pace – no pressure, no set schedule, just a great day out.

How do I make a booking? Send us a WhatsApp or an email, or fill in a contact form on our website and we’ll get back to you with availability. Or give us a call on 01298 42 40 40 – we love talking about pubs! Let us know what date you want, and roughly how many people are in your group and we’ll let you know the costs. Once you’ve made a booking we’ll have a good old chat about your tour and where you’d like to go. Good fun eh!
